I honestly just started to play the Restaurant City game on Facebook and have been doing nicely. I've been jumping levels over friends and starting to get the hang of it. I even started to creat an index for Restaurant City Questions.
Right now, I'd have to tell you that there are absolutely no hacks or cheats. Probably tricks and tips (and bugs?), but not hacks.
If you don't know what Restaurant City is, it is one of the biggest games on Facebook right now. It was published by Playfish, a well-known facebook (and other social networks) application publisher.
In Restaurant City, you will be able to build your own restaurant starting from a small one. Initially, you will have 4 tables and be able to hire a few employees. Once you gain level, your restaurant size (floor area) increases along with the number of employees you will be able to hire. It's quite fun. If you have played and liked SIMS, you will definitely like this.
Here are some tips and tricks I've began to learn while playing Restaurant City.
- The best ratio of employees is. 5:3:0. Four cooks, One waiter, No cleaner. This works well with the next tip.
- The last tip will be ok if you don't use this trick. Use a narrow, winding way to your chairs. This will give time for your only waiter to clear up the dishes before they arrive.
- Always have an arcade. An arcade is a way for your waiting customers to unwind. If you played Restaurant City long enough, customers not given a seat and/or didn't get their food because the restaurant is full, they give you a 'thumbs down'. When they play the arcade, they end up not giving you a 'thumbs down'. This way you always get away with one(depending on your number of arcades) that doesn't give you a 'thumbs down'.
- If you absolutely don't want to have cleaners, you can always redecorate and store your dirty toilets then put them back clean.
- If you are going somewhere and not be back in 3 hours you better lock up. You can lock up by barring the door with some of your stuff like chairs and the mailbox.
- Try to shake the trees around your restaurant. They sometimes, drop coins.
- In restaurant city, an island layout is the best. An island layout is when you put your tables together forming a circle. The waiters will be inside the circle where they can work faster (shorter walks to tables). The customers will be outside the circle.
- Don't use toilets. There's no penatly for not using it. And you will be occasionally cleaning it. Why do the hard work when you can 'play' without it.
- Don't use the Restaurant City Cheat Engine. I've heard it doesn't work. Don't try it or your account can be reported when someone notices you.
- Focus on one recipe per category on your recipe menu. Focusing by buying and getting the ingredients on a single recipe will increase your chances to level it up as opposed to randomly learning all recipes.
There are always new tricks and tips out there and I'll keep this updated as long I can. If you haven't tried Restaurant City, I suggest you try it out by logging into facebook and signing up. But be warned, it can be addictive.

I disagree. I've never had a thumbs down for the toilets. You can verify it at the playfish forums. :)
Ok. Just added a few things.
They do not give a thumbs down for toilets, which is why I do not use them, and I think once you hit level 17 that the ratio 4:4:0 works best, does 5:3:0 really work much better?
Chuck. That's the point I am trying to say, "Don't use toilets".
Actually, it depends on the table layout. If you your waiters just a minimal space to walk from stove to table, 5:3:0 works best.
I've found that 4 chefs "don't cut the mustard".

I haven't received any thumbs down for not using it. Weird. Anyway, I have always had 49.5 - 50 on my popularity so I'll probably stick with not having toilets for now.
@Yo: I don't think that's true. Although, I think you 'can have toilets' after you reach a certain level cuts the mustard.

I've found that you won't get a thumbs down if you don't have toilets, but you also won't get a thumbs up either. Your ratings will increase faster if you have toilets.
@Carrie. I think I've started to notice that. But I still think that decreasing faster is much better than increasing faster and it needs less work from the player :P

its true that u wont have a tumbs dont if u dont have a toilet.. but u wont have experience points either.. iv used this ratio 4;3;1 and my popularity goes to the highest, 5.0.. i sugest that u use a toilet.. i have 4 ^_^

You can earn different ingredients by trading with your friends. Its not advisable to buy your own, use your money to redecorate instead.
how come my chefs just stand there and dont do anything sometimes? they have 100% energy..
@Marjorie. In the garden plot you can plant seeds that will give you a random plant producing one ingredient.

@random. I never had that problem. It could be a bug. Since your employees should be losing strength when they are there.
Having the wall maze too slow down customers is actually very good, because your waiters can clear more tabels and and your chefs can cook more food.

Wow..I have to say that isn't that great. I manage the same popularity, and yet only have 3 cooks, 3 waiters, 1 cleaner, 15 tables, and no arcades.
I had a popularity of less than 10 then i put the tables in island format with 4 cooks, 2 waiters and have a popularity of 40

A helpful hint
In restaurant city staff groups (chefs, waitors, fridges, cleaners) work better when their are more of them in a group.
for example. 4 individual chefs work faster than 1 individual chef and 4 waitors work faster than 1 waitor

once u get to lvl 8, u need a toilet. ur customers wont give u a thumbs up if they need to go to the toilet after their meal.
If you level your dishes you get more exp for every person who eats that dish.

im level 18 and you do not need a cleaner.. just put chair facing your restaurant at your door so when the cusomters walk in, they walk through the chairs.. then there is no way for them to get out of the restaurant so they automatically giev you a thumbs up after their meal and disappear, not needing a toilet. :D
It is best to start off with one island layout. Three cooks per waiter. When you gain more employees, make them a cook or waiter (I suggest cook). When you reach 6 employees, split the island layout into 2 smaller layouts: 2 cooks per one waiter and the waiter is standing on ONE square with 3 tables on each side. You will reach a popularity of 50. Then when you gain another employess (a total of 7), you can add a cook to one of those small layouts and add 3 more tables, and still have a popularity of 49.5. BUT read the rest of the comment to reach this popularity...
I have read that if you have 3 arcade machines, it evens out the thumbs up and thumbs down when you do no have toilets.
I heard that is best to keep the happiness levels about 80%, or they slow down significantly.
If you leave your restaurant (because you are logging off of facebook, or you want to trade ingredients, or you want to go pick up trash somewhere) you will not gain any gourmet points. THE ONLY TIME YOU GAIN GOURMET POINTS is when you STAY in your restaurant.

hi i have a new idea for a layout that works really well. make a pyrimid out of your tables then put the cooks in a similar pyrimid on the inside. i have 3 cooks and 2 waiters and this is working the best for me. i also have two tolits and one arcade. my populatity is about 30 but it is going up steadily :D
how will i earned a star rating?
I have recently let my employees health run to zero and so my rating when down the tubes as my customers weren't satisfied. Now that the employees are at 100% again, how do I quickly get my rating back up?

ive never had thumbs down for toilets but i think you should have toilets because the customers go to the toilet after they eat and if they dont get to go you dont get thumbs up or down.

Stumped!!! --> it takes time for your rating to go back up, so just let time do it's part.
Hmm... You don't have to be in the restaurant anymore to gain exp, meaning, you can just leave the cooks and waiters there to gain exp, even when you have shut off the game.
I recommend having toliets just to gain that exp (When you have 9 people+ )Because then all your people will always be working anyways instead of them just haning around.

There are about 5 tools dedicated to the game, Trophy Givers and such, as well as many known CE Addresses.
There are hacks and you need toilets when you are in level 8 or higher

You point out some nice tips. Now that Restaurant City has 9 employees available, I think it is better to have 5 cooks, 3 servers, and 1 janitor. Having the toilets is an easy way to keep your approval rating high. Plus you can just click to clean it with the new upgrades.

To verify... I just got this notice on my RC account today after I leveled up to level 8. It's a screenshot of the prompt that tells me that I need to put toilets into my restaurant. Your popularity will go down if you don't have them after you are prompted.

ok.. i dont think anyone has asked this yet.. my workers stand outside the restaurant sometimes... idk why. at first i had three grills, took one away and the person came back inside, now i have seven workers and there are two outside.. and no one coming in my restaurant.. help :)
im on lvl 14 and i found out if u leave ur resturant for awhile u will get more money that way
You don't need a Janitor. You can clean toilets and fix the arcade by simply clicking on it.

Ive looked in my resturant for hours, ive visited every friends resturant and all the trees in each as well as across the street and the cars going by. ive also looked on my street, random streets and gormet street. and i still havent found him, i have even tried rating a few resturants , sending gifts and taking pictures to see if that would help. I STILL HAVENT FOUND THE FOOD KING
I tried doing a two island thing, but instead of only taking care of their own island, waiters are carrying food all the way to the other island

Hi! i im lv 25 in RC. I agree that the island formation works, but it looks like a hellhole! if you use modern style you will still get 40 rating. i have 4 toilests and 2 arcades if dont i will LOSE rating. Use toilets, for those who dont lose rating for not having toilets, use it anyway it looks coll(have you ever been on a resturamt without toilets?). I use 4-4-1 4 cooks 4 waiters and 1 cleaner.
My oppinion:
Use toilets, Island formation sucks, and if you have "modern"resturant style you will gain popularyty.
By the way increasing dishes gives more exp pr. dish...

You should have toilets, because you have to manually repair (click)them in order to gain your awards. Also every time someone uses the toilet, they wash their hands after which gives you experience points, and help you level up.
I believe that being sanitary has something to do with your popularity rating because mine hovers around 46.0-50.0 and I have 7 toilets and 3 sinks and.
Also I've only been playing for about 2 weeks and I'm at level 25. I think that's fairly quick................ :)

Greetings...I noticed that the Gourmet City Restaurants are able to stack boxes (to make stages), televisions (for multi-viewing) and suspended curtains (without attaching to walls)...how are they able to do this? Is a certain level needed? Your feedback would be very beneficial...thanks
you have to stay at your restaurant and drag the screen to the streets and then find the food king
I have 3 cooks, 5 waiters, and 1 janitor. Waiters are important if u want to serve drinks and I have 1 janitor just in case cuz' Im always too lazy to do all that stuff you said.
everyone is commenting on the toilet thing - you don't have to have a cleaner, you can click on them yourself to cleam them, it also gets you an award.
someone help me with this. i had a bit of an obsession with restaurant city a few months back, i reached level 32 (when that was the highest level you could reach) and still carried on playin every now and again.
now when i go on, i notice that hardly ANY customers are coming in my restaurant and my popularity is 4/50!!! WHY?

Katie - if people are going outside, then your restaurant needs to be reconfigured. Your waiters will go outside as a protest... make sure only one chair per table, it's easy for the waiters to walk around to get to and from the tables and to and from the stoves.
Others on Restaurant King - I see him at least once a week. He can either be next to your garden, on your street or on Gourmet Street. He will be in the could and with all the moving parts it's hard to see him wave. So you need to look for purple (his coat) and his hand waving at you. The down side, is that he offers you 1 of 3 choices of an item or a dish to share on your FB wall for friends... you don't get it. Only friends can claim that offering and you will get a little message when you try. So, it's not worth helping your friends increase their dishes.

It is a very good idea to use toilets and have sinks. This way you get more thumbs ups. Also without any toilets you get thumbs downs.
I've found that the best way to get popularity is to make sure service is great. That means bussing the tables yourself sometimes to help out. I have 5 chefs, 4 waiters, no cleaners, 5 toilets, 2 sinks, and about 25 tables. Im on level 23 with popularity of 50. No garden area, no waiting space, no arcade either. Just service.

how do you make more money faster.I have to actually sit and play for hours to earn a little money but any thing i buy then poof im broke. So how do u make money fast so that im always loaded.
You can either make money buy buying from cahs etc,,or you just keep on resting your people. The people can work for 4 hours now. If you popularity is good, then you can earn up to 5000 before your people get tired

you do need toilets im at level 25 and if i dont hv any toilets in my rating goes down. my rating actually stays at a very high level from 48.0-50.0. it is a quite simple layout....you put your stoves to 1 side of your cafe and then put tables around it. if you dont have enough tables after trying that then make a hole in the middle of the row, then put more tables directly outside....on a totally different topic, i think that the outside part of the cafe is stupid. i just put a fountain and a garden there to make it look better than just a square in the middle of nowhere....thank you for reading my outragously long comment!!!!!

my waiter is standing in the doorway and not doing anything. its really annoying... why does that happen and how can i make it stop??
@august----> Make sure you have an empty space in front of your stove or on either side (not on the pad where chefs stand, the actual stove!!). Your waiters cannot reach the stove to serve and for some reason they stand right there. That heppened to me before.
If I have toilets, do I need sinks? I was reading everything and I have no idea. I already have 5 toilets, so I'm not just getting rid of them.
Unfortunately, the spamming on chefs instead of waiters doesn't really work since the introduction of drinks, so i'm going with an even mix of chefs and waiters. Also, i'm fairly sure i've seen thumbs down for lack of toilets...
@Cream You don't need sinks, but they do essentially give you free popularity points, as they don't need maintenance but will get you thumbs up from customers who use them :)
I use 6 2 1 and i have 50.0 pop and that is because i have 14 green arcades and 6 of the others green = 8000 the other = 12500
You don't need a cleaner. Period. All you have to do is click the toilets and/or arcade machines and just like that, they're fixed.
right now I'm in level 19, have 4 cooks, 4 waitors, no janitors, 10 toilets, and no arcade . Just wondering how many toilets and arcades I need to have a gud popularity . Right now I have 50.0-51.0 but want 2 keep it up . HELP ?

I have 8 employees. I've pretty much got 4 chefs and 4 waiters, no janitors. I prefer to have an equal amount of chefs and waiters, and if its an odd number, more chefs than waiters. The chefs work fast enough, but its the waiters im worried about. I think I need more waiters to clear plates. And I use toilets, just because I feel kinda weird about it. A restaurant without toilets?But anyway, thanks for the tips.

... no, this is all stupid so far... i've used none of these tips and my popularity window varries between 48.2 and 50. just put your tables around your stoves... like what i have is like a half square of tables, and then the stoves on the inside with just enough room (one square around) for the waiters to walk to deliever food and clean dishes, which allows them to do it while bearly having to move. i have 4 cooks, 4 waiters and 1 cleaner because after a while they give thumbs down for not having toilets. i've yet to use an arcade but i plan on getting some. its not too hard, you alos don't have to "close shop" by baring your doors when your guys pass out from needing rest or what not it closes your resturant, it says so in the top right corner and doesnt allow people to come in so it saves your popularity level... whomever wrote this tips and tricks for the game is and idiot and probobly doesnt want anyone to be very good at the game so they can climb up to the higher rated restaurants faster. good luck :)
LCpl Welch is right no need for those unnecessary tips keep the ratio at least 3:2:1(chefs:waiters:janitors)(you can change this ratio but janitors should be one and this ratio at least) and 2 toilets with one arcade is all u need trap your chefs around by stoves and thats pretty much all the help u will need and dont spend your money on unnecessary items

3. Good Looking Tables And Chairs(Not Good But If You have Money Go For It)
4. Maintenance
DONT waste your money on stoves except the ones that make the game fast buy cheap stoves and longer shifts

LCpl Welch, This article was written a while ago, almost a year ago in fact. the restaurant closing because there are no employees working were implanted AFTER this article was written, so old players did need to block their entrances.
i have a ratio of 2:1 chef:waiter, with 1 janitor.i have 5 tables, 2 stoves, 1 drink bar surrounding each waiter. my popularity is stable at 80+ maxing out at 83+.
restaurant city is for sissys and girls. no true boy would play this pitiful game. shame on you ppl.

you really need to have a toilet. if you dont have them customers do not give you thumbs up nor down. if you have toilets, they give you thumbs up.
first, i can see that you are very naive. i can guarantee that there ARE hacks and cheats to restaurant city. i have friends who use them and i know a couple myself. secondly, using your long narrow path will waste time, if you had two waiters instead of one, you could get the job done much faster. thirdly, toilets are very much important and so are janitors. you will receive a thumbs down for every customer that wants to use the toilet, when you do not have one.(sinks however, are not necessary as customers don't need to use them) lastly, an arcade does not replace chairs, as having an arcade is merely just another investment to make money.
i know because i have maxed out my whole restaurant, employees, bar, sushi table and make 120,000+ coins a day-no hack.

actually although the cheats do work sum ppl i no who used got caught and now sumhow all the gp they had turned negative.....dun ask me y though
This post is good, and i agree with it all, exept you do need the toilets for popularity, the tables surrounding the chefs and waiters is a good idea, it does work. im on level 29, and i have 77.0/77 so it does work very well. Also i make sure the food i serve is higher levels. The tree shaking is a little weird, you dont get many coins for that, i find going to friends restaurants, and fixing what is wrong in them is a much faster and easier way to earn money. i dont know about the arcade yet, i havent ever tried getting one. With the seating, i dont do much for deceration. It looks good, so since i dont do the decorating, i get nice tables, and i have made two squares to block them in. one thing i did for a while, was i forgot to put a drink machine in the square, dont forget it! people need the drinks. also instead of going in the inventory, and putting up the table, and taking it out, which takes more time on our part, i find just clicking on the tolilet myself, it cleans it. and it goes by much faster than that. if you clean the toilets all to be good before you logg out, then they most of the time stay clean by the time you get back the next morning. also i have learned, if you want points quicker, do shorter times. if you do shorter times, than when the time is up, and you can get the reward for closeing it. remember, the time you set it for, lets say.. six hours. then you have six hours after that to colllect the reward, so then there is a 12 hour zone of not having to do anything. and when you close it for the reward, of course its not cash. but you do get lots of points. right now every time i close it i get 1700 points. so if you keep doing the 30 minute sessions when you have time, and do that for maybe like. two hours. then each thirty minutes, you get it. it helps me level up much faster as long as its timed right.. thanks for the tips.
If a customer wants a toliet he neither gives thumbs down or thumbs up... cleaning them is not big deal i just get em it helps raise ur pop, im 74 out of 77 so i think i should know...
I'm lvl 22. I have 5 chefs 4 waiters. It works perfectly for me. As well having toilets, while it does decrease if you don't clean them, if you don't sit there with it on, they clean themselves. As well i have 6 toilets, and a rating of 73.4 out of 74. It can't do anything but help as long as you don't sit there for multiple hours staring at your restaurant.
I want to be on gourmet street. But no one rates my restaurant. I'm a part of the gourmet club. I only have one five star rating right now. And I'm already almost to level 45. I've been apart of the gourmet club for quite a while now, but no one rates my restaurant. I have quite a few level 10 dishes, and a perfect 82.5 out of 82.5 rating for service by my customers. Which currently is the highest I can get a the moment. Can anyone tell me how to get more ratings faster?
Ive got a decently levelled resturant and im now lv 44. I made a new account on facebook on which a seperate resurannt which is gr8 because i now get 2X ingredients by trading the ingredients to me. Another advantage is if u dont want everyone knowing u play the game on your new account you can just make friends with RC game players who constantly send you gifts. Not really a cheat but a gr8 way to get more ingredients for all the new recipies comin out every week. On my main resturant i now have 35 lv10 recipies an im only lv 44 :)
ok so i wuz too lazy to read the comments (all of them) so this wuz probs already covered but i have restaurant city and
1. if u click a dirty toilet in ur restaurant than it just cleans itself
2. yes u can get thumbs down for no toilets but it depends on the size of ur restaurant and level so if maggie has told u that u need toilets then get at least one or two its fairly easy to keep them clean without janitors as i said before just click the dirty toilet
oh ya and i DO know how to spell existence just to clarify lol
ok so now i have a question... when u get to level 9 and u can have a bar and a bartender how do u get a bar?? i made my chick a bartender but she keeps asking for a bar and i dont get how to get one :P

put maybe 8 sitting areas with just chairs or a decoration infront to make it look better, they'll sit there when theres no more room and when the other customers are done and move out, the sitting customers will come in!!!
it save alot customers for me and my popularity level is up
to 80 all the time!!!
P.S. dont put real tables in front of the sitting area chairs or else they'll stay untill they lose patience and give u a thumbs down.
P.S.S. if u want your sitting area to look nice then put
a decoration stool in between 2 chairs to look like a small table (: (: (:
Does anyone know why some workers stand outside the resturant? I try and give them differnt posistions but that works for a second then there are standing right back outside again this has just started happening im on 33. I think I figured it out, I had only 3 chefs and I didnt have the right ratio and once I changed everything around it worked.. i have a restaurant in restaurant city im lvl 28 and i need toilets or my popularity goes down they give u a thumbs down if u dont have a toilet if they need the toilet :P u need a toilet :P
i would just like to add stacking is done much easier holding down the CNTRL key just make sure you let go of the mouse button first
curtains can be done that way too
i have found the several islands layout doesnt work but one big island is the best

Boris, you stack by holding down the Control key or, for a mac, hold down the Command Key.

I'm at level 34 and maintain a 76.1 out of 78 at all times. I have a pretty spread out island and no janitors. I have 8 toilets and just click on them to clean them. Also if I have some time I'll watch the game and click on dishes to clean them and help out the waiters. I just bought an arcade today and will see how that goes. I just learned about stacking from recent posts! Thanks! I have 4 chefs and 5 waiters. Almost all of my equipment cooks faster than normal, so that also helps. thank for all the posts guys.
Im on level 21, i find it helpful to help clean up my restaurant, i have 1 janitor, 3 cooks, anf 4 waiters, i need less cooks since i have $9000 stoves that cook 3% faster
Ok, well I was redecorating, and my restaurant looks kinda like your's but without the detour. I've had that layout ever since I first started playing, cause I really like it. But ever since I've added an arcade, people aren't coming to the seats on the other side. I'll try moving some things around but I'm sick of getting thumbs down for no reason
After moving a few things around, customers sit on both sides :D Wowww it's really tough having a 46/50 rating. EVERYONE is always coming in. . . :/

actually. as the game progresses and your restaurant gets bigger, customers would look for toilets.. and when there aren't any, they're gonna give you a thumbs down.
